Descendants of Pinkney Quinn Collins

1st Generation

Pinkney Quinn Collins was born 1819 in Lincoln Co. North Carolina and died 4 September 1862 in Bollinger Co. MO. at Dallas now Marble Hill MO. Some genealogy researchers believe that Pinkney was the son of Joseph Collins and Julia Wilson but at this time it’s can’t be proved. Pickney allied himself with the Union serving as a solider, guide, scout and spy. Pinkney received a gunshot wound during a battle on Crooked Creek four miles south of Dallas MO. (now Marble Hill).  He was taken to the home of Mrs. Lydia Brown in Dallas and died 10 days later. He may have married (1) Malinda Berry on 9 Jan. 1844 the daughter of Hiram Berry and Mary Amelia Emily Lincoln. Malinda was born June 1819 in Lincoln Co. North Carolina and died 11 July 1900 in Bollinger Co. MO. No marriage record has been found but there are several references to that date.  It’s possible the marriage may never have been recorded. He married (2) Mary Ann “Polly” Jones on the 5 June 1849. She was born in 1827 in Tenn. and died 1 April, 1860 when struck by lighting.
